Do you think SEO is black magic?

The simple answer is SEO works. Google doesn’t just draw a bunch of websites from their database.

Today, I am going to simplify the SEO formula.

High SEO rankings fall into two buckets:

  1. Reputation
  2. Relevance

SEO Formula

Let’s go into more detail about each section:

RELEVANCE

Google’s mission is to “Google’s mission is to organise the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful.”.

Google does NOT want searches to get frustrated by their Googled results. Otherwise, they will use swap to another search engine. Thus they want to provide the most relevant search results.

Google is trying to answer the following questions:

  • How relevant your website for a particular keyword?
  • Does your page help the searches intent?

You need the consider the following:

  • Website structure
  • Keywords
  • Content topics

REPUTATION

In the eye’s of Google, the more “popular” a website is, the more valuable the information must be, which will increase your rankings.

Google is trying to answer the following questions:

  • How reputable is your business/website?
  • Do you have many votes online?

You need to consider the following:

  • Website backlinks
  • Online reviews
  • Social media engagement

MEASURE THE RESULTS

Now you have all the ingredient (sort of), you have to understand that SEO takes time.

It’s important to note that some of the best performing channels may be the most difficult to measure.
